So unfortunately we don’t have a Chick-fil-A in our town, in fact you have to drive about 2hrs to get to one. Needless to say if I happen to be near one come mealtime we stop. Tonight we ate at the Chick-Fil-A in Conway Arkansas, and while we were eating my wife made a neat observation, everything is more pleasant inside the Chick-Fil-A, because the staff of the restaurant is overly polite and helpful.

This was really intriguing to me, when I looked around everyone seemed to be in a great mood, having polite conversations with not only their party but the people seated nearby. Then it hit me: Positive breeds positive. Isn’t that what lots of our churches are missing? I mean can’t that one sour attendee suck the joy out of the whole place? We need to be a people that act like we have something amazing in our lives. Something positive that makes us behave like we’re blessed, joyful even. We should be those folks that are on top of the world, after all Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we could hang out with Him on a daily basis. If that doesn’t make you happy then something is wrong my friend.

So today try and take a page out of the Chick-Fil-A handbook, and be  a happy positive person. I bet it rubs off on those around you. Win, win, win.

I’m sure you’ve probably seen this video hanging around various posts and blogs. But just in case you hadn’t seen it I wanted to make sure you got a chance. This is a great video to use in your church services, leaders meetings or wherever you desire to bring awareness to the startling statistics that take place in the lives of students during the time of a normal church service.

This video blog is part of our New Believer DVD that we’re hoping to have finished by this summer. This particular video talks about the importance of being around other Christians at church and in life in general. If you can use it feel free.

So I have two baby girls at my house. Yes gentlemen I hear you, I do live at Camp Estrogen, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My oldest daughter Magdalene Reese is the most amazing little girl, and she’s not even two. She knows her colors, a ridiculous amount of words, and she knows that her

Daddy gives kisses.

Its always when I’m not looking for it that God teaches me things. The other day I was about to head out to work and my daughter was watching a movie and sitting on the floor of our living room.  I bent down to tell her I was leaving for work and to say goodbye and as I bent down she very calmly leaned her face towards mine so that I could kiss it. I hadn’t said a word, she didn’t know I was leaving, and yet and her response to my presence was to position herself to receive my love. I thought that’s funny she assumed I was squatting down to kiss her rather than t0 talk to her or scold her. Her reaction was because thats what happens when I move towards her. Kisses.

She knows this because that is how her Daddy relates to her.

Many years ago before I met my wife I lived in my single man’s dirty house, just me and my dog Kiz. When Kiz was a puppy he was this cute tiny ball of fur that slept alot and was really easy to play with, then he turned into a puppy in a dogs body, a big dogs body. He would chew up things like the arm of my couch or aluminum cans, and he would bark. He barked to get me to pet him or as I saw it keep me from listening to whatever television program I was trying to watch. Now don’t call the SPCA on me, and I’m sad to admit this, but lots of times when he would get up in my face and bark loudly at me I’d slap him. I know, I know I’m a horrible human being, smacking a dog for barking to get my attention. What’s worse is that I had no concept of how often I did this until one night when I wasn’t stressed out and was calm and filled with patience he got up in my face like normal and barked. This time however, I went to pet him and give him the attention he was after and you know what happened? He ducked! His experience was that when he barked at me, he got slapped.

Unfortunately many Christians I encounter live under the impression that God relates to them in a way similar to the way I related to Kiz rather than the way that I relate Maggie. Let me tell you if your one of those people who see God as an old man waiting to slap you when you come to Him your wrong. The Bible tells us lots of places that this is the wrong view of God.

The prophet Jeremiah relays God’s desire for us:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11

Jesus himself says:

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” -Matthew 7:11

God desires to lean in close and give you kisses, to pour out His blessings upon you and enjoy life with you. I suggest that it’s time we stop ducking and lean in with anticipation of something wonderful.
