Hey Matt,
My husband and I are former members of Brook Hills. We left, not because of David, but because of my love for food which means I go with my husband! ;) We now live in Cincinnati and love everything about it except for leaving our adult children and being pastored by David Platt. We have been Christians for several years but when we heard the gospel explained to us by this young godly man, it brought us to our knees. The first sermon we heard him preach...afterwards...leaving the church, it was a few miles toward home before we even spoke a word! And then not long after that first sermon, he started with the radical approach. WOW!!! God spoke through David Platt and changed our life. When your heart understands, it makes your whole outlook on life and being a Christ follower click! You can never go back to living a shoulder shrugged life!

Have faith. Everything that we learn formally, the void words become power when the Lord breathes His Spirit into them. I was born and raised in a very conservative evangelical church, I've heard the christian staple expressions my whole life, and I was "immunised" to them. It was like I knew that it was the truth, but it really didn't make any difference to me. I walked away from the church for years. One day He came for me, and all those words I had chosen to ignore burned worse than fire. Believe me, there's nothing in this world or another that can immunise against the power of our Lord.

Matt, I really like your video on the need for church planting. I am a planter and am starting a new ministry to help church planters with funding. Can I use your video in my presentation?

Now for the positive slant: It is also a commentary about the influence of religion in a society that wants to remove God from the conversation; God does not go away easily. Always having had a secular job, I've found it to be excellent preparation for being relevant. I perhaps would have a certain level of responsibility for my thoughts/behavior in the religious setting, but I am truly held to higher account because I am the light shining in a dark place. THE BLESSING of secular work should not be undervalued, at least the scoffers are honest. No wolves in lamb clothing, just wolves wearing fur.

Hey Brad! I'm glad my posts offer at least some hope that there is a fullness of life that is found only in abandoning ourselves to follow Jesus. If I can help feel free to drop me a line via email. Just out of curiosity who's your brother in law?

It is not a coincidence that I read your blog tonight. My brother in law lives in Texas, but mentioned you by name as someone I can listen to. I live here in White Hall yet have fallen away spiritually. My life is crumbling before my eyes. I need God in my life now, more than ever. Thank you for your posts. I'm all in.

Matt, I have truly enjoyed following your journey because I see a lot of myself in statements you make and in things you write about, places you've been personally over the past few months, etc. Don't know what God has ahead for you, or for me for that matter, but thanks for sharing your heart and good luck in this new phase of the journey of serving and following Him.
